Bankruptcy eligibility, exemption amounts, and repayment plans all depend on your specific financial picture. The more complete your documentation, the faster and smoother the process will be. Don't worry if you can't locate everything — bring what you have and we'll work through the rest together.

Income & Employment

  • Pay stubs from the last 6 months (all jobs, you and your spouse)
  • Last 2 years of federal tax returns, including all W-2s and 1099s
  • Proof of any other income (Social Security, disability, rental, alimony, child support)
  • Most recent bank statements (last 3 months, all accounts)

Debts & Creditors

  • Credit card statements (most recent)
  • Medical bills and collection notices
  • Personal loan and payday loan statements
  • Student loan statements
  • Any lawsuit or judgment paperwork
  • Wage garnishment notices
  • Letters from debt collectors or attorneys

Secured Debts & Property

  • Mortgage statement(s) — most recent
  • Vehicle loan statements
  • Property tax bills
  • Vehicle titles
  • Any foreclosure or repossession notices

Assets & Property

  • Most recent retirement account statements (401k, IRA, pension)
  • Life insurance policy documents (if cash value)
  • Investment or brokerage account statements
  • Any inheritance or expected inheritance documentation
  • Business ownership documents (if applicable)

Personal Identification

  • Government-issued photo ID (driver's license or passport)
  • Social Security card or proof of Social Security number
  • Proof of address (utility bill, lease, or bank statement)
